As a recap, we highlighted the following topics.
SOLIDWORKS PDM - SOLIDWORKS PDM is a well known solution for managing your SOLIDWORKS data. With standard being included with SOLIDWORKS Professional and above, it provides you with the ability to prevent data from being overwritten, control its revision, and carry out automated workflows.
SOLIDWORKS PDM Cost - SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard is included with SOLIDWORKS Professional and above. You can also choose to upgrade from standard to professional for a subscription pricing. With PDM, much of your cost will come from implementation of hardware and the support required for that hardware.
ENOVIA on 3DEXPERIENCE - ENOVIA is another Dassault Systèmes brand known for its product data and lifecycle management power. Now that the tools are being brought to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, you can access this power from the cloud. This is a much more out of the box solution, allowing you to get up and running with your data management when you need it. The base level product data and lifecycle management is what is known as Collaborative Industry Innovator, but that’s just the beginning. There are various other sets of ENOVIA tools available to help extend your project management capabilities as needed!
ENOVIA Cost Information - ENOVIA is a named user licensing basis, so each user will have their own individual access. However, there are no infrastructure costs. All hardware, support, security, and backups are handled through Dassault Systèmes, so your barrier to entry costs are much lower.
SOLIDWORKS PDM vs. ENOVIA on 3DEXPERIENCE - No one solution is right for everyone… yet, that is. SOLIDWORKS PDM may be a better solution for you if you need an extensive amount of customization, often seen through enterprise level data management. ENOVIA on the other hand, is a great solution for those that don’t have any form of data management and want to get started right away. And to suggest that SOLIDWORKS PDM is better for customization is not to say that ENOVIA is entirely rigid. ENOVIA has certain best practices engrained into its build, however, it can be configured to a certain extent for your processes.
