In this webinar, we took to the cloud to take a look at the browser based CAD tools available with 3DEXPERIENCE. We focused on xDesign (parametric modeling) and xShape (subdivision modeling) and how they can work together with SOLIDWORKS to enhance your workflow.

As a recap, we highlighted the following topics.

3DEXPERIENCE Overview3DEXPERIENCE is a cloud based platform that brings together the power of various Dassault Systèmes brands, such as SOLIDWORKS (design), SIMULIA (simulation), and DELMIA (manufacturing). There are various xApps available to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform which allow you to carry out your designs from a web-browser, on any device!

xDesign – xDesign is part of the 3D Creator role on 3DEXPERIENCE and it brings the power of parametric modeling to your browser. With an intuitive interface, you’ll be bringing designs to life in no time. As a bonus, if you have SOLIDWORKS experience, the interface will be even easier to pick up as there are a lot of similarities in the available tools.

xShape – xShape is part of the 3D Sculptor role on 3DEXPERIENCE and it brings the power of subdivision modeling to your browser. Add in a hunk of virtual clay and start pushing and pulling as needed to create complex geometries that would be incredibly difficult to achieve and maintain with traditional parametric surfacing techniques.

Combining the Power of xApps – All of the xApps available to 3DEXPERIENCE are compatible with each other, which means you can easily add parametric features, using xDesign, to that complex geometry you made in xShape.

Working with xApps and SOLIDWORKS – As all data is hosted in the same location, you can easily combine the power of design in xApps and SOLIDWORKS. Say goodbye to exporting and reimporting into your various CAD packages.

Additional xApps – To wrap up, we discuss the additional xApps available beyond xDesign and xShape at the time of this webinar, which include apps for sheet metal design, structure design, and more!
